Microsoft 365 is not automatically protected

We recommend that you regularly backup Your Content and Data that you store on the Services or store using Third-Party Apps and Services.”

For example, there is typically only a 30-day retention period built into Office 365, and Microsoft SharePoint Online is backed up only every 12 hours with a 14-day retention period.

Microsoft 365 offers geo-redundancy, which is often confused with backup. Geo-redundancy means that a copy of data is made, which is stored in Germany. Geo-redundancy protects against site or hardware failures, for example in the event of an infrastructure crash or interruption but does not protect against other types of data loss, as previously mentioned.
